On Wednesday October 20th, we will be walking to Adventure Running to do some running drills and learn some skills.  It is not far from the school, but students should dress appropriately as we will be outside for the hour.😊

We go outside for a quick body break and outside for Physical Education daily.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. Thomson

In Science, we are learning about our sensory organs and how we use our senses to interpret the world around us.  We are also learning about Fall and have been out for a few Fall walks so that we can use our senses to help us understand and explain seasonal changes.

Literacy

We have started our Guided Reading groups and your child will receive reading instruction at his/her individual reading level.  The reading strategies that we are practicing are glued into the front of the homework book.  Please use these strategies with your child as you read with him/her at home.  Please use books from the public library, our school library as well as reading on RAZ Kids.  StarFall is also a great reading site that you can access on the student resources page.  Please see the word lists under the quick links on the side bar and go through the words with your child.  Start with list one and work on a few words per week with your child.

In writing, we are working on sounding out words while we write, putting spaces in between words, proper letter formation and formulating ideas for writing.  Last week, we began talking about our Rainbows of Hope.  Students chatted to a knee buddy about things they are hoping for before attempting to write down their ideas.

In Math, we are working on strengthening number concepts by counting to 100, working with the 100 chart, representing numbers in different ways and we have started to use the making 10 strategy to help us develop our addition skills and add numbers to 10.
