 April 4th, 2022

Just a quick reminder to send in your ticket form and money soon for the Willy Wonka Spring Performance that will take place on Thursday April 21st in the evening at First Alliance Church.  If you have handed in the form and money, tickets will come home soon.

If you celebrate Ramadan, you can wear your formal Ramadan clothing to school on Friday April 8th.

Also, I will be sending home the weekly mad minutes that we complete in class.  This is so you can see how your child is doing and have him/her practice using mental math strategies to quickly complete the basic facts in 60 seconds.  Once a week, we do a subtraction and an addition mad minute sixty second timed test.  There are some mad minutes as part of the homework that you can access and you can also google extra practice mad minutes to have your child practice.

Enjoy looking at the bird's nests and robin's eggs that we made out of modelling clay .

Welcome Spring!!!  This is a favourite time of year and we look forward to all of the things that this new season brings including the chirping birds, green grass, budding leaves on the trees and colourful flowers.

We will be studying plants and animals in Science and we were lucky to have a guest speaker today from The Alberta Institute For Wildlife Conservation.  We were introduced to some important vocabulary such as adaptation and migration. Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned or liked most about this presentation on wildlife in Alberta.  I have placed the link below if you are interested
in learning more.

We look forward to sharing our robin's eggs and nests that we made out of play dough and modelling clay.  We have also been writing some super sentences about Spring. Our writing expectations are increasing as the year moves forward so be sure to practice your sentence writing as part of your weekly homework.
We will also be starting our Building Things unit in Science.  Over the next two weeks, please send in recycled materials that will be useful for building a structure.  These recycled materials can include cereal boxes, clean yogurt containers, kleenex boxes, paper towel rolls, plastic water bottles etc.  We will be collecting the materials and we will be sharing what has been collected on our building day.
Please check the music blog as students are reminded to practice the songs for our Spring Play on April 21st (be sure to send in your form and money to purchase tickets).
Thank you for your support.

March 7th-11th

Leprechaun Traps!!!

It is time to start thinking about catching a leprechaun.  Please send building materials to school with your child by Monday March 14th.  Please do not make the leprechaun trap at home with your child.  Rather, send in materials for the trap to be built at school.  Building material ideas are listed in the homework note on the homework page, please see the leprechaun trap note within the homework for further details.

Thank you for your support, it will be so much fun.

Also, please make sure to sign up for an online parent interview.  I look forward to speaking with you about your child's learning and growth.

Ms. Thomson
